Information Services

Overview

The Vital Statistics Unit provides comprehensive Information Services to assist citizens in obtaining official documentation related to key life events. Citizens can:

  1. Apply for birth, death, marriage, adoption, or Registrar’s certificates for records that have already been registered with the VSU.
  2. Request tailored information extracts or certified copies of documents pertaining to their specific life events.

To cater to diverse needs, the Information Services offer flexible delivery options. Applicants can choose from same-day, next-day, or standard service.

Process

Who can apply?

  1. Life event participant.
    1. The bride or groom can apply for their marriage certificate
    2. Mother, Father or child over 18 years can apply for a birth certificate or adoption certificate.
  2. A Person authorised by the life event participant through a signed authorization form

Required documents

  1. Applicant’s identification document
  2. Authorization document – if authorized person is applying

*For Belizeans, only Social Security Cards and Passports are accepted. For Foreigners, only Passports and National IDs are accepted. Driver’s license and Voter’s Card are not accepted.
