Deed Polls

Overview

A deed poll is the process of legally changing one's name as how it is officially recorded on a Belizean birth certificate or nationality certificate.

By applying for a deed poll, citizens can:

  1. Obtain a Registrar’s Certificate, which serves as legal proof of the name change. This document is essential for updating identification documents and records, and accessing various services under the new name.
  2. Establish the legal recognition of their new name for all official purposes, including property ownership, employment, education, and other matters related to personal identification.
